Created to set up a tax exempt (501C3) organization through which the community can benefit. Currently, we are building the Dr. A.L.McCormick-Ohnemus Community Center and setting up an organization to operate it.   Mission Statement:  Community Projects Inc. will independently and collectively work to maintain and improve the quality of life in Milo and surrounding community.  The corporation will research endeavors of potential benefit, assessing and prioritizing areas they may wish to participate in.  The corporation may organize and direct the labors of local organizations, groups, or individuals as well as acquire and direct additional skill and labor as needed.  The corporation will raise and disperse funds in pursuit of its goal.

Milo Congregate Meals

We provide meals consisting of 3oz of meat or other protein, 2 1/2 cup servings of vegetables or fruit, dessert and milk to patrons unable to cook for themselves (or unwilling to do so) delivered to homes or to the City Hall. These meals are prepared at Lacona and are funded by Aging resources of Central Iowa.

The fire department provides fire prevention and supervision as well as rescue and paramedic level, pre-hospital care to citizens of Milo and surrounding townships including all of Belmont and Otter and portions of Liberty and Union. Second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. Location rotates between area churches or The Milo Community Center, our Headquarters.

The Milo Lions Club follows the lead of the greater Lions Clubs International.  We leave all other affiliations at the door in order to pursue the common goal of community service.  We take particular interest in the areas of eyesight and hearing loss, diabetes, and anything that improves the quality of life in the Southeast Warren Community.  Lions and Lionesses are welcome.

Belmont Badgers 4-H Club

Our club is a group of youth from grades 4th - 11th. We promote a community  project every year. 4-H encourages youth to gain knowledge and learn practical life skills and to apply both in their project areas. Youth learn to work together as a team. They learn decision making skills and communication skills.

 

Youth Football League - Southeast Warren K.C. Chiefs

Practice starts in August. Games are September through October.
This is an organized, full contact football team for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys. We play in a league in Indianola, IA.  The mission is to teach the boys the basics of the sport of football, sportsmanship, and the concept of working together as a team.
